Building Regulations
Building regulations are good for home owners because you can be reassured that if building work
complies, it is:
● to the required standard
● Safe,
● Efficient.
The building trade is highly regulated and home owners can be surprised to find out how much
regulation controls what can be done in their home. For example, you must get certificates of
compliance for:
● electrical work in bathrooms, gardens, kitchens
● new windows
● new boiler installations
If you are creating a new bathroom in your house the Building Control division of your local
authority must be informed, you may not need planning permission but you will need building
regulations approval. Among other things, Building regulations apply to room ventilation and waste
and drainage.
If Tara are doing the work we can liaise with Building Control and obtain the Building Regulations
consent for you.
Note: if we are going to this it will be clearly stated on our quotation. We write everything down so
you know what to expect. You know what is included in our price, for example, the quote will tell
you we are going to remove all rubbish from site.
