Building Regulations

Building regulations are good for home owners because you can be reassured that compliant work is

* to the required standard

* safe

* efficient

The building trade is highly regulated and home owners can be surprised to discover the amount of rules and red tape governing what can be done in their home.

If you are creating a new bathroom in your house, for example, the Building Control division of your local authority must be informed, you may not need planning permission but you will need building regulations approval. Among other things, building regulations apply to electrical work, heating, room ventilation, windows, waste and drainage.

We usually liaise with Building Control and obtain the Building Regulations consent for you if it is necessary.

Note: if we are going to this it will be clearly stated on our quotation. We write everything down so you know what to expect. You know what is included in our price, for example, the quote will tell you we are going to remove all rubbish from site.

Many of our clients know nothing about Building Regulations or Planning Permission and get the two confused. The films below will give you an introduction if you want to know more.
